Boards and Commissions

Assembly Meeting Schedule

From May through September, regular Assembly meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m.

From October through April, meetings on the first Monday are held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), and meetings on the third Monday are held at 6:00 p.m.

Hospital Board

The Petersburg Medical Center is governed by a Board of Directors composed of seven diverse and representative community members who donate their time and talent to assist the hospital in carrying out its mission.

The Hospital Board meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm in the Borough Assembly Chambers.

Board members are elected annually in October in the Petersburg Borough General Election.

Library Advisory Board

The Library Advisory Board promotes communication with the community, approves library policies, and supports planning and outreach.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meetings occur every 2 months at 4:00 pm. Meetings held are via Zoom and in person. In person meetings are held in Administrative Office upstairs at Community Center.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission advises the Borough Assembly on issues and policies related to planning and land use regulation as well as community development in general.

In most cases the Planning Commission has the ability to make a final decision, pending appeal to the Borough Assembly. The Alaska Statutes allow cities and boroughs to establish Planning Commissions and provide for planning, subdivision, and land use regulation.

School Board

The School Board meets second Tuesday of the month in the High School Library.

Board members are elected annually in October in the Petersburg Borough General Election.
