ORDINANCE 2025-06 TO LIMIT THE SENIOR EXEMPTION TO LOW INCOME SENIORS
This ordinance proposes an amendment to Section 4.28.130 of the Municipal Code to restrict the sales tax exemption to low-income senior citizens. The proposed amendment would require that qualifying seniors present proof of eligibility by providing documentation of their approval for the State of Alaska Senior Benefits Program in order to receive a Borough sales tax exemption card.
If approved by the Borough Assembly, this amendment will be submitted to qualified voters of the Borough for consideration during the fall 2025 election.
