High Wind Warning for Friday, September 26, 2025
In light of the high wind warning that has been issued by the National Weather Service for Southeast Alaska, which includes Petersburg, PMPL would like to remind our customers of some relevant points:
- Trees and branches have the possibility of coming down during these types of events. Power outages are not a certainty, but they are highly likely.
- If you lose power to your home or business during the storm, please call either PMPL directly at 907-772-4203 or the Police Department at 907-772-3838 to report the problem. Please refrain from calling 911 unless you are experiencing an emergency.
- Take time today to gather up any loose property that could be picked up by heavy winds and cause damage to your home, business or electrical service. Remove any items that may be leaning against your structure or near your electrical service or meter.
- Check operation of emergency generators if you have one, and make sure you have fresh fuel on hand.
- Locate candles or flashlights ahead of time.
- Have a battery-operated radio available to listen for storm updates.
Please know that PMPL has staff available to respond to any outages that may occur during this storm system. We will be working to make repairs and restore power in the shortest time possible.
Call PMPL at 907-772-4203 or the Police Department at 907-772-3838 to report an outage.
