SEAPA Annual Shutdown 2026: Fuel Surcharge & Call for Energy Conservation
SEAPA will be shutting down the hydroelectric feed to Petersburg from June 11-20, 2026 to allow for numerous maintenance activities at Tyee Lake and the SEAPA Intertie transmission line. The Borough Assembly approved the annual fuel adjustment charge, which will be used to offset a portion of the diesel fuel expense incurred by PMPL during the SEAPA shutdown.
The fuel adjustment charge is based on how much diesel fuel is needed while SEAPA hydro power is unavailable. The charge is applied to a customer’s usage during the May/June billing cycle. This one-time charge will be a separate line item on the utility billings that will be sent out in July.
Your conservation makes a difference! PMPL advises customers to conserve energy from May 15th through June 26th so the fuel adjustment charge will be minimized as much as possible. Less diesel fuel used means lower overall fuel costs, which helps keep the fuel adjustment charges as low as possible for everyone.
Thank you for your support and conservation efforts. If you have any questions, please call PMPL at 772-5433.
