October 5, 2021 Borough Election


  • Register to vote: Voters must register with the State of Alaska by midnight Sunday, September 5th to vote in the Oct 5 election. To vote in this election, you must:

    • be a United States citizen qualified to vote in the State of Alaska elections and registered to vote in the State of Alaska;

    • at least eighteen (18) years of age;

    • a resident of the Petersburg Borough for at least thirty (30) days preceding the election; and

    • not disqualified under Article V of the State of Alaska Constitution as recited in Section 2.08.030.

  • Information on ballot propositions 

  • Absentee Voting/Vote by Mail : Any qualified elector who is absent or expects to be absent from the Borough, or who will be unable to go to the polling place for reasons of physical disability on the day of the Election, may vote by absentee ballot. 

    • In Person Absentee Voting: Voting will be held Monday - Friday, 11:00 am- 3:00 pm in the Municipal Building Training Room (12 S. Nordic Drive) beginning Wednesday, September 15, 2021 and ending Monday, October 4, 2021 at noon.

    • Vote by Mail: Voters wishing to receive an absentee ballot by mail must make request for an absentee ballot to the Clerk’s office no later than 4:30 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021.  Ballots must be received by Monday, October 4, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.

  • Election Day : Polls open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 5, 2021.  The polling place for the election is the Community Gym.
