The Petersburg Borough Regular Municipal Election will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Important Dates
  • September 6 — Last day to register to vote or update your registration
  • September 16 — Early in-person voting begins at the Municipal Building
  • October 1 at 4:30 p.m. — Deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail or electronic transmission
  • October 2 at 4:30pm — Deadline to submit write-in declarations of candidacy 
  • October 5 at noon — Early in-person voting ends
  • October 6, 8am-8pm — Election Day, Activity Room of the Community Center, 500 N. 3rd St.

CANDIDATE INFORMATION

Voters will elect members to the Borough Assembly, School Board, Hospital Board, Planning Commission, Harbors & Ports Advisory Board, Library Advisory Board, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, and Public Safety Advisory Board. Candidate filing closed Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.

POSITIONS TO BE ELECTED  

The deadline to submit write-in declarations of candidacy is October 2, 2026. Write in candidates must submit a WRITE IN CANDIDATES' LETTER OF INTENT & APOC FORM  
 


PROPOSITIONS ON THE BALLOT

The ballot will also include three propositions concerning:

Proposition No. 1 — Electric Utility Revenue Bonds for the Scow Bay Standby Generation Project

Proposition No. 2 — Increasing the maximum single transaction amount subject to Borough sales tax from $1,200 to $5,000

Proposition No. 3 — Establishing a sales tax exemption for qualified Borough residents age 70 and older
