Do Not Put Snow Into Plowed Streets

During periods of snowfall, the Petersburg Borough Public Works Department would like to remind the community that placing snow
from personal property onto a plowed roadway is unsafe and can lead to hazardous driving conditions. If a resident or business owner pushes snow from their property onto an unplowed street, the Borough will remove the snow during normal operations. However, if your street has been plowed, please  do not push snow into the roadway. The Borough often plows snow very early in the morning and there is not enough time in the day to
go back to each street and clean up again. Please avoid pushing snow on top of storm drains or culvert openings as well. Snow piles that block drainage systems can lead to street and ditch flooding during thawing periods. The public’s help in keeping the streets clear and preventing hazardous conditions is very much appreciated.  Call Public Works with any questions at 772-4430.  Thank you.
