Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.

The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

A household is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if you or someone you live with currently receives a government benefit like SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, WIC, Pell Grant, Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch or Tribal Benefits like Tribal TANF, General Assistance, Head Start (income-qualified).

APPLICATION TIPS

  • One criterion is if a member of the household participates in a Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, including at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools. Petersburg High School and Mitkof Middle School are both CEP schools so all households with students enrolled in either school should qualify for this program. You will need to submit a letter from the school district documenting that the student is enrolled this year to qualify under this provision.
  • The benefit may be applied to a new or existing internet service.
  • If you have an existing service, contact your internet provider and confirm the account owner's name and service address. For the internet provider to apply the benefit, the application must be in the name of the account owner and the service address must be exactly the same as it is listed on the account.
  • All of Alaska is considered Tribal land under this program. Households should qualify for up to $75/month in benefits.
  • The benefit amount is provided directly to your internet service provider. The provider will credit your account each month.
  • The application process:
    • Check the eligibility criteria and get proof of eligibility.
    • Sign up for a user account with the FCC National Verifier.
    • Sign in to your FCC National Verifier account
    • Complete an application and upload documents as required
    • Once you are approved, contact an internet service provider that accepts the ACP benefit.
